Achilles Hope and Possibility's (5M) Run

6-27-10

The Lance Corporal Brian Parrello Memorial Engine 4 invaded the Island of Manhattan on June 27, 2010 for the Achilles Hope and Possibility (5M) run in Central Park.

On July 15, 2005 The Macopin Fire Company dedicated Engine 4 in memory of Lance Corporal Brian Parrello (USMC) The 19-year-old West Milford resident was killed in Iraq on January 1, 2005.

Brian's mother Shirley and brother Matt Parrello, along with nine members and one wife from Company 4 participated in the June 27th event. Shirley was representing Team S.O.S. (Support Our Soldiers). S.O.S. is a group that honors fallen and wounded soldiers.

Shirley was quite surprised when she saw "Brian's truck" as she calls it near the finish line.

The Achilles Hope and Possibility run brings together athletes with disabilities and able-bodied athletes in a celebration of running. Cash prizes, raffles, free t-shirts for kids, and more provided a great day of fun in the park.
