9-27-08 MVA with Entrapment

 

On Saturday September 27, 2008 at about 1:35 pm we responded to an MVA with entrapment in the area of 615 Morestown Rd. The incident was in Company's 6 response district. Company 3 also responded.

Police were first to arrive on scene and reported one victim trapped inside the vehicle, they also requested a medevac helicopter. Rescue 3 arrived on scene and went to work first to stabilize the vehicle then with their Jaws of life. Rescue 4 arrived and placed a second tool into operation to assist in the extrication.

While firefighters worked outside to free the victim two firefighter/emts were inside working to stabilize the victim.

Also assisting on scene was Engine 61 with a crew standing by with a 1 3/4" pre-connected hand line, two BLS units one from the West Milford First Aid Squad and the other from the Upper Greenwood Lake First Aid Squad and a ALS unit from Chilton Hospital.

There were two injuries in the accident, both were treated and transport on the ground by the BLS units. Medevac was grounded to weather conditions.

The accident is under investigation by the West Milford Police Departments accident investigation unit.
