Structure Fire
On
Saturday, November 18, at approximately 2 p.m., West Milford Fire Company 1, 2
and 4 were dispatched for a report of a working structure fire on Apple Tree
Lane in W. Milford Twp.
When Engine 1 arrived on scene they confirmed a fully involved structure. The
abandoned house sat behind another house about 600 feet off the road, and at the
end of a driveway that was overgrown with small brush.
Firefighters had to hand-lay (through the woods) a 3-inch line that was reduced
via a gated-Y to two 1.75-inch attack lines.
A draft site was established by Engine 2 at a nearby lake and WMFD's Tanker 1, 2
and 4, and Tanker 33 from Kinnelon supplied E-1 with water.
It took firefighters about an hour to bring the blaze under control. The fire is
under investigation by W. Milford Fire Marshal Mike Woch.
